Hello and welcome to my blog, this site is the landing base for my thoughts and ideas, new work and exhibitions but mostly a place where I can be myself.
However, currently I find myself in a position of major change, a turning point and at a critical moment where anything could happen.
My painting has always been a source of positivity, creativity and uplifting moments but recently I’ve developed quite the block, losing a parent, surviving a major pandemic has taken its toll.
By revisiting this blog I’m hoping to rekindle my mojo, if you like, my love for painting simple forms on canvas. In essence I’m starting again.
In the meantime this space is a repository for my thoughts and ideas but also a place for critical reflection and debate and conversation about all things creative, if you enjoy or have something to say then please, please comment.
Cheers Leanne.
Dear Leanne,
Hello from Dunedin, my name is Lisa Wilkie and I am one of the Art Consultants/Curators here at Milford Galleries Dunedin. Your recent graduate show really caught our eye – both in terms of its conceptual approach and its execution. With this in mind, I’d like to ask if you’d be interested in including some of these works in our opening exhibition for 2018, with an eye to establishing a gallery relationship in the longer term, should things go well.
If you’re interested in this opportunity, we would like to include a number of your works in our first main show for 2018, Show and Tell (Feb 24 – 21 Mar). This is a forum where we introduce new exhibiting artists alongside new works from a number of our represented artists; the line-up for next year includes sculptural works from Ben Pearce and paintings by Andy Leleisi’uao, the winner of this year’s Paramount Wallace Award. We feel that a selection of your abstract paintingd would be a wonderful fit for the show and I do hope that you’ll consider our proposal. Should you decide to take part in the exhibition, we would love to have new works made specifically for the show. Of course, I’d be more than happy to see images of works that you already have available and think may be suitable for Show and Tell.
Below is a little background to the gallery for your information and please do look through our website to get a good idea of who we work with and our previous exhibition schedules. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me with any questions you might have at or 03 477 8275. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future and hopefully getting the chance to work with you in 2018.
Best wishes,
Lisa
Milford Galleries Dunedin is one of the biggest dealer galleries in New Zealand and has been in operation in its present location in Dowling St since 1989. We have a separate gallery in Queenstown (milford galleries queenstown) and while they have a slightly different focus to the main gallery, we work closely with them and share a number of clients and works. We have a large stockroom which affords us the opportunity to present clients with works immediately and we regularly send works around the country for presentation to out of town clients. There are nine staff based in the Dunedin gallery, including our in-house framer, technician, and two registrars who provide logistical support to artists as well as the art consultants and directors, and the Queenstown gallery.
One of our main foci is that our artists produce work of exceptional quality, that is critically reviewed, and is grounded in a solid conceptual background as well as technical excellence. Feel free to have a good look through our website and see who we represent and how we support our artists in terms of web archives, online catalogues and biographic information. We work with clients throughout the country and internationally. Our clients are dealt with on an individual basis and we aim to fit the right artworks to the right clients. This includes working with public and private institutions such as national museums and art galleries, university collections, trusts and corporate clients.
